I spent some time today looking through the posts on my other blog, hybrid tumbleweed, and decided to import some of them, albeit slightly edited for this context.
I've noted at the top of each imported post the date it was originally published. Since blogging is still relatively new, and I don't know if there is any consensus yet on how to list/cite blogs, or whether it is deemed appropriate to go back and edit previously published entries, I have taken some liberties.
I would appreciate some discussion on this topic, and I am sure many people are already thinking, discussing, and formulating blogging ethics. Print publications cannot edit their 'posts', but must print errors, omissions, etc. in a later issue. Bloggers, however, and other online writers can easily edit previously published material instead of posting errata separately. The question is, is it right or wrong to do so? And must one be clear about the fact that editing has occurred?
